How to Cooking Rice and make Pulao using (Absorption method)
Ingredients
- 1 ½ Cups (Aged) Basmati Rice (Available at your local Indian Grocers)
- 2 1/2 Tablespoon (Tbsp) EVOO
- 2 Teaspoon (Tsp) Cumin Seeds
- 2 ¾ Cups of Water
- Salt (As per taste)
- ¼ Cup Frozen Peas
Procedure
- Wash the rice (Gently) a few times until the water runs clear
- In a Cooking Pot (On Medium Heat), heat 1 ½ Tbsp of Oil and toast 1 Tsp of Cumin in it
- Add washed rice and stir for a while and add water and season
- Once boiling and as the water seems to start absorbing, reduce the heat and fluff the rice with a fork.
- Cover the pot with a kitchen towel and cover with a lid. Cook for another 5-10 mins. Take off the Heat and Keep Aside
- Tempering-
- Toast 1 Tsp of cumin in a small pan
- Add 1 Tbsp Oil and stir
- Add the peas and cook for 2-3 mins
- Pour this hot Temper on the rice
- Mix and Fluff the rice and temper using a fork and allow to cool slightly before serving
- 3-4 Serves
