How to make basic Parathas/ Flat Breads & Knead Dough
Ingredients
- 250 g Flour, another 50 gms to dust
- Pinch Of Salt (Optional)
- 1 Tsp EVO Oil (for Kneading)
- 150 ml Water, a little more for kneading
- 1-2 Tbsp EVO Oil (For final cooking) or Ghee
Procedure
- Mix the Salt and Oil to the flour
- Make a well and gradually add water, and mix
- Mix until the entire flour forms into a large lump of dough
- Take out the rough dough on a plain surface, moisten your hands and knead it until soft and springy
- Keep the dough aside for 15-20 mins
- Make small balls and dunk them into some flour
- Roll out the balls (3 inch diameter) and apply a Tsp of oil. Fold over into Half moon
- Apply another tsp of Oil and fold again to form a small triangle
- Dunk the dough triangle in the flour and roll it out evenly, until thinner
- Dust off excess flour and place on a hot pan
- Cook one side and flip to cook the other side (each not more than 2 mins) over medium heat
- Apply EVOO on a side and turn over to repeat the same on the other side. Cook until Golden
- Makes 6-8 Parathas
- Serve with sides of your choice
- Boil the lentils until cooked (soft) (alternately, the same can be done in a pressure cooker)
- In a pot, add the bhuna masala to the cooked dal and bring it to a boil
- Add the Bhuna (Roast) Masala (Spice Sauce) and grate in the ginger, season with salt as per taste
- Tempering-
- Heat cumin seeds in another pan and add in the ghee
- Add in the garlic and fry for until slightly golden
- Pour the Hot Tempering ghee on the Dal
- Finish off with freshly chopped coriander
- Serves 4-6 People
